Monster Bucks! The Gopher Plantation QDM and feeding program are yielding great results and there were several quality bucks taken during the 2007/2008 season, as you will see from the photo gallery. There were also several other trophy bucks spotted by hunters but not taken. The drought of the past two seasons did impact the number and quality of bucks taken, however the abundant rain that we have received so far this year during the critical antler growing period is guaranteed to produce a monster crop of heavy antlered bucks for the upcoming 2008/2009 season. The Gopher Plantation continues to expand the property with several newly acquired tracts adjacent to or nearby the original Gopher Plantation property. These newly acquired tracts were not previously hunted heavily and the sign and actual deer observed on these new properties are impressive. We have planted food plots, installed feeding stations and elevated blinds in preparation for the season and we expect great results from these new properties. The Gopher Plantation provides their deer and turkey populations with a high-protein diet year-round. The Gopher Plantation feeding program and QDM standards are second to none in the Southeast. Gopher Plantation
has over 60 deer stands. These stands are strategically located near food plots.
Stands have sides, tops and comfortable chairs. Some stands easily accommodate
three chairs which are ideal for parent-child hunts. Our expert Guides escort
all hunters. Over the last few seasons, 60% of our hunters harvested an
8-point or better. Good luck hunting this year and we hope to see you soon! View of the Big Field from the deer stand. This location has consistently been one of the most productive stands on the plantation. The "Big Field" is surrounded by a creek bottom on one side, hardwood forest on another and pine forest on the other sides. The field is also adjacent to planted agricultural fields. The "Big Field" is planted in various green field foods including clover and rye grass and is a favorite feeding spot for the deer population.
